Professor Romain Teyssier to Join Princeton Faculty

Professor Romain Teyssier of the Institute for Computational Science at the University of Zurich has accepted a faculty position jointly between the Department of Astrophysical Sciences and the Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics (PACM), and will join us in September 2021. His appointment was approved by the Princeton University Board of Trustees on September 25, 2020.

Professor Teyssier is a world leader in computational astrophysics and fluid dynamics, with particular interest in understanding the physics of galaxy and star formation in a cosmological context. He is well-known for the development of the RAMSES code, an Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) code for self-gravitating fluid dynamics, which is widely used throughout the community.  Professor Teyssier is one of the world leaders in using computational means to study the physical processes that govern the formation, evolution and observed properties of galaxies.  He has developed innovative new computational techniques to efficiently numerically investigate the relevant partial differential equations on large computer clusters.

Among the many recognitions of his work, he was awarded the Grand Prix Scientifique of the Simone and Cino Del Duca Foundation of the Institut de France.
